Serving God And Others
"Whoever wants to be great must become a servant. Whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave. That is what the Son of Man has done: He came to serve, not be served."
Jesus came to serve others and He calls us to have this same value. We value service to God and others and this is at the core of who we are and strive to be. "Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage, but made Himself nothing..." Jesus looked out for the needs of others, even providing everything necessary for their hope and salvation. We value this attitude and strive to live it out. Contentment At Every Stage
"I've learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I'm just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I've found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty."
"There is great gain in godliness with contentment, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world." Too many never master the secret of contentment. They always need "bigger, better, newer, more". We strive to see everything as a gift and be happy with little or much. |
Stewardship of God's Resources
"Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."
We trust that if you serve and seek God first, He will give you everything you need. "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much." Everything we have comes from God. We are simply His entrusted managers. We strive to manage His resources that He gives us. Redeeming Our Time And Energy
"But God said to him, 'You fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?"
This is from one of Jesus' parables warning about greed. A man spent his life accumulating, never thinking about his life. We never know when our soul will be required, and strive to redeem our time and energy each day. "Everyone has to die once, then face the consequences." We only get one life, and we will be held accountable for how we lived it. We value treating each day like it could be our last, honoring God with our time and energy. |
